When boarding a plane, do so quickly. Find your seat, put your luggage in an above-head carrier, and sit down. The longer you stay in the aisle, the more you congest the mass entry of people.

To prevent blood clots and swelling of legs and feet on long flights, wear support hose and take aspirin (if not medically contra-indicated) before leaving the house. Be sure to get up and exercise, or do it in your seat to prevent cramps.

Carry a photograph of your luggage on your person (not in your luggage). If lost, give the picture to the baggage agent so they can spot it easily. Place something disguishing on your luggage such as a large colored "X" on the side, colored belt or tag, so it can be easily identified.

Carry travel information in a clear plastic folder with a closure (zip lock, velcro flap, etc). It is quick and easy to access at airports, and you always know where things are located. It should include at least your ticket or e-ticket, boarding pass, and itinenary. It can also include notes, maps, cruse and hotel information, and names of contact people both at your destination and at home. Do not include your indentification such as photo ID and passport to prevent a thief from using the documents. With the itinerary, officials will know where to return it.
